What Band Does WiFi 6 Use?
The newest wireless internet standard, 802.11ax, is another name for WiFi 6. It uses both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, just like WiFi 5 (802.11ac). The 2.4 GHz band is good for longer range and going through walls, while the 5 GHz band is faster but works best at shorter distances. WiFi 6 combines the power of both bands to give you better speed, range, and reliability.
In some countries, WiFi 6E is also available, which adds a third band—6 GHz—for even more speed and less interference. However, this depends on whether your country supports it and whether your devices are compatible. Dual-band WiFi 6 (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) is already a significant improvement for the majority of users.
